Succeeding through Hard Times

Do we succeed in spite of our struggles, or because of them?Just as resistance builds muscle, hard times build character. This workshop outlines the benefits of perseverance.

From his winning web-series, The Hard Part Show, comes a thrilling workshop that tackles the no. 1 thing plaguing teens across the country: Distraction.

Though many influencers and speakers focus on striving toward a life of ease, The H.A.R.D. Part boldly encourages young people to embrace struggle as a necessary part of growth,  reframe stressful situations–seeing them as the key to building texture, and celebrate others for sticking it out.

So what is the Hard Part? Shaun defines it as the layer or wall between you and everything you want. It’s anything that creates distance and friction between you and your goals. He teaches that one must develop a passion for what they want (Heart),  a positive outlook on the world around them (Attitude), the flexibility to take risks and try things a different way (Resilience), and the commitment to complete each task no matter what (Dedication).

As Mel Robbins once said “if you would only do the things you don’t feel like doing, you’d have everything you ever wanted.”Shaun opens his presentation with humorous anecdotes of growing up with undiagnosed ADHD. He then dives into examples of some of the most successful figures of our time and the one thing all had in common; hard times. This discovery led Shaun to ask “do we succeed in spite of our struggles, or because of them?”

The H.A.R.D. Part not only teaches that resistance builds muscle and practice produces high performers, but that the ability to get through hard situations builds character.

Using music, viral clips, and group challenges, he equips students with the tools and distinctions needed to complete a successful school year. Learn about today’s biggest distractions keeping your students from their potential and cool new strategies to combat them.

“Shaun’s presentation style is fast-paced, interactive and engaging. You can really see how much time, effort and heart he puts in to make his content relatable! As an educator one of the things I learned from Shaun is “don’t be afraid to get on their level.” Young people love when you’re real with them and Shaun’s presentation is relatable, relevant and tailored to your organization.”
